Student Research Conference 2023
Ten Miller lab research students presented at the annual Truman State Student Research Conference (SRC) on April 27, 2023. Truman State fell victim to a cyber attack the week before the SRC, which made preparing and presenting talks more challenging than previous years, but the students persevered and did a fantastic job!
NCUR 2023
Peyton drove with Sarah, Dominic, Hannah, and Charan (and a music major) to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire to present their recent research results! Dr. Miller was sadly absent from this meeting (again). However, all five seniors had a great time giving their last off-campus undergraduate poster presentations.
ACS Spring 2023
Dominic drove with Hannah and Zoe to the National ACS Meeting in Indianapolis to present some their research results! Dr. Miller was sadly absent from this meeting. Dominic and Zoe won the award for best undergraduate poster presentation in the COMP Division for their research on APOBEC3B! The students also enjoyed getting to meet the ACS mole!
ATSU Biomedical Symposium 2022
This poster session was held in Nov 2022 at A.T. Still University, where we presented our research to the medical faculty and students of ATSU. The students who attended were Sarah Holmes, Ainsley LaMore, Dominic Caputa, Peyton Williams, Charan Dyavanapalli, and Christine Chen. Peyton was invited to given an oral presentation, and Sarah won best undergraduate poster presentation!!
ACS Fall 2022
We drove to the National ACS Meeting in Chicago to present some of our projects with Hannah, Georgia, and Christine! Dr. Miller gave an oral presentation about research in the lab and honored his PhD advisor, Dr. Adrian Roitberg. Hannah and Christine won awards for best undergraduate poster presentations in the COMP Division! We also got to enjoy a round of mini-golf and some great sights in Chicago!
2022 MERCURY Conference
In July, Miller Lab summer research students Hannah, Georgia, and Christine flew to Greenville, SC to attend the annual MERCURY Conference on undergraduate computational chemistry at Furman University. They each gave a 1-min elevator-style talk about their research, and then gave hour-long poster presentations about their respective research projects.
Student Research Conference 2022
We had students present in the annual Truman Student Research Conference. All students that have been a part of the lab for more than a year are required to present at the SRC, but unfortunately that would make for a really long slideshow and Bill is not a professional photographer so only a few pictures are shown here.
ACS Spring 2022
We took a trip to the San Diego ACS National Conference to present some of our projects with Ainsley, Alex, Collin, Conaire, Dominic, Jake, Peyton, Sarah, Quin! We had Quin and Dominic participate in Sci-Mix and Alex presented some of her research from her REU in Nebraska! We also got to enjoy plenty of southern California with trips to the beach and mini-golf, of course!
ATSU Biomedical Symposium 2021
This poster session was held in 2021 at ATSU, where we presented our research to the medical students of ATSU. Lizzie won best oral presentation!! The students who attended were Alex Platt, Conaire Bradfield, Dominic Caputa, Peyton Williams, Hannah Zimmerman, Lizzie Cremer, Leo Phan, Chanz Silkey, and Richard Parks.
ATSU Biomedical Symposium 2020 (virtual)
The only research conference we attended in 2020 was the A.T. Still University Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Symposium, which was held virtually, where we presented our research to the medical faculty and students of ATSU. The students who presented were Ally Esselman, Quin Blankenship, Conaire Bradfield, Brock Boysan, and Alex Platt.
2019 MERCURY Conference
In July, the Miller Lab, including Dr. Miller, Molly Huebner, Abby Held, and Jake Collins flew to Greenville, SC to attend the annual MERCURY Conference on undergraduate computational chemistry at Furman University. Each student gave a 1-min elevator-style talk about their research, and then gave hour-long poster presentations about their respective research projects. We also enjoyed many extracurricular activities, including billiards, cornhole, mini-golf, laser tag, and go karts at Frankie’s Fun Park!
ACS Spring 2019
In Spring 2019, we took a trip to the National ACS Meeting in Orlando, FL to present some of our projects with Peter Windsor and Ari Vera. In addition to the great research conference, it was nice to get away to sunny Florida!
2018 MERCURY Conference
The Miller Lab flew to Greenville, SC to attend the annual MERCURY Conference on undergraduate computational chemistry at Furman University without Dr. Miller, who was awaiting the birth of his child, Brady. The brave students that attended a chaperone were Peter Windsor, Ari Vera, and Yu Xuan Lin. Each student gave a 1-min elevator-style talk about their research, and then gave hour-long poster presentations about their respective research projects.
2017 ATSU Biomedical Symposium
The Miller lab presented at their first A.T. Still University Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Symposium in 2017. The poster session included presentations by Miller Lab members Stephen Plassmeyer, John Bickel, Peter Windsor, and Zachary Smith. Stephen won best overall presentation for the symposium! And Peter won best undergraduate poster presentation!
2017 Midwest ACS Regional Meeting
Dr. Miller traveled with four students (Stephen Plassmeyer, John Bickel, Branden Lawson, and Zachary Smith) to Lawrence, KS to present posters at the Midwest ACS Regional Meeting. Naturally, we also stopped to enjoy some mini-golf on the trip back to Kirksville.
