Mackenzie is a junior Biology major at Truman State University with minors in Spanish and Creative Writing. She joined the Miller lab in fall of 2022 and received a research grant to work part-time over the summer of 2023. Mackenzie is an active member of the STEP project, through which she works to identify and characterize small-molecule inhibitors of hematopoietic protein tyrosine phosphatase (He-PTP). She is also the service committee co-chair for Beta Beta Beta, assistant submissions editor of the student literary magazine Windfall, and a Spanish tutor. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and hanging out with her cat, Blackjack.
