Zachary Smith

Zach joined the Miller research group as a freshman in Spring 2016. He joined the APOBEC3B project and generated terabytes of data! Zach was well known in the lab for backing up his data (usually in triplicate on an internal hard drive, external hard drive, and Google drive), and for writing scripts that repeated commands instead of using loops. He was awarded the Paradocs summer research fellowship in summer 2017. Zach graduated from Truman State University as a double major with a B.S in Chemistry and B.A. in Biology. Currently, he is a Biochemistry PhD student at The Ohio State University.

Fun fact. Zach was nicknamed “Baby Giraffe” in the lab because of his tall, but very youthful disposition.
